Place Names in the Adirondacks: A Diverse Past

ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» Live: Summer Series presents, β€œPlace Names in the Adirondacks: A Diverse Past,” with Pete Nelson, a co-founder of ADI and an adjunct faculty member at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³». The history of life and work in the Adirondacks is much more racially and culturally diverse than people realize.Β  But while this history has been neglected and mostly forgotten, its imprint lives on in place names found throughout the Park. Learn the fascinating stories of some of the names we see in the region and the people whose presence and labors defined them.

The session is part of ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» Live: Summer Series and will be held via Zoom Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. It is free, although pre-registration is required so invitation details can be sent to participants. To register, visit www.nccc.edu/live.

This program is sponsored by ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³», the Adirondack Diversity Initiative, the Adirondack ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» Association and John Brown Lives!
